Britons can save hundreds on staycations this year with new travel scheme | Travel News | Travel
Train travel is becoming increasingly more expensive, with the cost of a return fare often more pricey than a return flight to Europe.
Whilst domestic travel is deemed more convenient than international holidays, the price might be off-putting – especially considering the current cost of living crisis.
However, if you’re searching for a staycation to shake off the January blues, London Northwestern Railway (LNR) has a solution for budget-conscious adventure-seekers.
Travellers can enjoy hefty savings of up to 78 percent when they book in advance, thanks to the budget-friendly Advance ticket option offered by LNR.
If you’re planning a trip to help start the year off in a positive way, the rail operator has added an additional 10,000 Advance tickets to help Britons make plans throughout the year without burning a hole in their pocket.
The offers come at a time when four in 10 Britons feel less financially stable heading into 2024, compared to the beginning of 2023.
Over 106,000 monthly Google searches are made for “advance and cheap train ticket” options, as Brits are on the lookout for affordable ways to have fun.
However, there is more reason for travellers to rejoice, as from January 23 to January 29 you can secure up to 50 percent off Advance tickets across the LNR network with The Great British Rail Sale.
With 75,000 tickets on sale, it is possible to travel from Birmingham to London for as little as £4, and from Birmingham to Liverpool for just £5.50.
London Northwestern Railway has also revealed you can travel along its network for as little as £3.40 – for an Advance journey from Rugby to Birmingham New Street.
The rail operator is urging prospective travellers to act quickly, as once the limited prices are gone, they’re gone.
Advance Tickets are usually available up to 12 weeks ahead of your intended travel date, and can be booked up to 10 minutes before departure.
Advance ticket Rail Sale prices include:
- Coventry to London – £4
- Crewe to London – £5.10
- Liverpool to Birmingham – £5.50
- Liverpool to London – £7
