Jet2 flight warning as ‘disruption’ could impact holidays in popular destination | Travel News | Travel

Jet2 has issued a flight warning of possible “disruption” at several major French airports due to roadblocks.

An airline spokesperson said: “We have been made aware of potential roadblocks affecting Chambery, Grenoble and Lyon airports due to local protests, including the A43 at the Chignin toll booth and the A48 between Grenoble and Lyon.

“Please ensure you allow plenty of time for your journey to the airport. All Jet2.com flights will operate on time.

“Check-in will close 40 minutes before your scheduled time of departure.”

The airline said its operations team would monitor the situation and communicate with affected passengers via SMS or email.

French farmers have been protesting by blocking highways in several areas of the country. The farmers are calling on the government to offer better prices for their produce.

British tourists in the region should leave extra time to travel to the airport as blockades could cause delays.

It’s unlikely that flights in France will be delayed due to the blockades but passengers may have more difficulty reaching airports.

The UK Government also issued a travel warning for Britons heading to France amidst the protests.

It said: “Protests by farmers have taken place across France. Since January, action has included blocking roads and delaying traffic.

“Monitor the media, avoid protests, expect delays on some major roads and follow the advice of the authorities.”
