Octopus Energy launches new scheme offering customers free £100 on t his condition | Personal Finance | Finance

has launched a new customer and solar referral scheme to help drive the rollout of clean devices and help deliver net zero.

Anyone who gets a heat pump or solar system installation from Octopus can refer friends and family for their own heat pump or solar power installation.

Those referring will pocket £100, while those having the tech installed will get a £100 discount on the fitting.

Octopus Energy retail customers can get a £100 credit on their account while others will receive a widely-accepted e-voucher of the same value.

Rebecca Dibb-Simkin, chief product officer at Octopus Energy, commented: “Nothing makes us happier than satisfied customers.

“We’re incredibly proud that so many have referred us to their friends and family over the years.

Since launching to the market, Octopus said it has paid out nearly £100million in referrals to customers.

The payout to customers is set to rocket even further following the launch of the heat pump and solar referral offer.

Ms Dibb-Simkin added: “Our approach has always been to put money back into people’s pockets, and we’ll happily give away another £100million in referrals as savvy customers take advantage of our heat pump offer – and help speed up the clean heating revolution along the way.”

It comes as the Government has announced a significant surge in demand for heat pumps.

Applications for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) grant increased by 75 percent in February compared to the same period last year, according to February 2024 figures.

The Government launched the BUS to grant eligible households up to £7,500 to replace fossil fuel heating with low-carbon heating systems, such as heat pumps and biomass boilers.

Applications for the grant opened in May 2022 and will close on December 31, 2027.

Octopus Energy heat pump prices start at £500, including the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.

By switching to a specialist heat pump tariff like ‘Cosy Octopus’, the firm said households could save up to £222 a year compared to running a boiler.
