Vladimir Putin’s ally unveils terrifying new hypersonic missile in latest nuclear threat | World | News

Boris Obnosov, the CEO of Tactical Missiles Corporation and close ally of Vladimir Putin, announced that the Tsirkon hypersonic missiles had the unprecedented capability to evade nearly every enemy anti-missile or air defence system.

In a recent interview with Rossiya-24 television, Obnosov praised the extraordinary characteristics of the Tsirkon system, believed to have been championed by Putin himself.

The missile is nuclear-capable and can carry 200-kiloton warhead – eight times the strength of the bombs the US dropped on Japan in World War 2.

He said: “For the time being, the characteristics of the Tsirkon system are extremely high, and, of course, a very effective anti-missile or air defence system is needed to intercept it.

“To me, at present, Tsirkon is a weapon that allows us to say that we can overcome any enemy defence.”

Experts suggest that the Tsirkon missile’s hypersonic speed and advanced manoeuvrability make it a challenging target for existing anti-missile systems.

This revelation not only amplifies the significance of hypersonic technology in modern warfare but also prompts a reevaluation of global defence postures as nations strive to maintain a competitive edge in an increasingly complex and dynamic security landscape.

As the international community grapples with the implications of this breakthrough in missile technology, defence analysts predict that the Tsirkon missile may reshape naval doctrines and necessitate a rethinking of existing defence architectures.
