Armed police have rushed to Buckingham Palace this morning after a “loud bang” was heard when a man crashed into the gates of the official Royal residence on Sunday morning.

Footage has shown armed police surrounding the driver, who was on his knees, with police shouting “keep your hands on your head”.

The incident happened around 2.30am on March 10, and the Met Police say the man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
