Prince Harry turned down meeting with Prince William after ‘shocking’ confession | Royal | News
Prince Harry previously turned down a meeting with Prince William, claims royal author Valentine Low.
The author shared that William attempted to reach out to Harry after growing “concerned” for his younger brother – but the meeting never actually went ahead.
Speaking on the A Right Royal podcast, Mr Low shared that the attempt occurred in 2019 after a trailer for the Sussexes’ ITV documentary, ‘Harry and Meghan: An African Journey’, aired.
In the episode, which is titled ‘A Right Royal Aide’, Valentine reveals that William was “concerned” for his brother after discovering, through the trailer, exactly how Harry was feeling.
After’s William’s attempt to have a heart-to-heart with his brother, Harry’s worry over palace leaks meant that the meeting never went ahead.
Speaking to hosts Andrea Caamano and Emily Emmy Griffiths – and HELLO‘s royal editor Emily Nash – Mr Low said: “When William and Kate had been in Pakistan, and the trailer for the ITV documentary about Harry and Meghan, in South Africa, was about to come out.
“That was the one when Meghan was quite clearly having a bad time and spoke about it.
“And it was very shocking. William came back from Pakistan and he was quite concerned about his brother, he was wondering what to do about it, and someone said to him, ‘Just go around there, go round to Frogmore Cottage’.”
He continued: “So, he picked up the phone, which might have been a WhatsApp message. But yeah, I think he did speak to Harry and said he wants to come and see him.
“And Harry was initially kind of open to this idea, but then said to William, ‘Well, who are you going to tell if you come round?’
William said, ‘Well, you know, I have to tell my private secretary, because I’ve got to change my diary.’ And Harry said, ‘Right, well, in that case don’t come.’
“Because he was so worried that once the staff knew, that it would leak. It was kind of heartbreaking.”
Prince Harry has been at loggerheads with William for some time – especially since he and Meghan Markle announced their plans to step down as working royals.
This month marks four years since Meghan and Harry took on their final engagement as working royals.
The couple now live in the US with their two children – Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two.
It is believed that the brothers’ are no longer on speaking terms, with Harry having not visited William nor his sister-in-law, Princess Kate on his recent visits to the UK.
