He was interviewed alongside Brecel on Monday after the opening ceremony. “It’s a great event, brilliant venue,” the Rocket said. “Obviously done a fantastic job so all the players are excited to get going.

“I love the Middle Eastern culture so it’s great to be here and enjoy your time away from the table, that’s always important and makes you enjoy the event much more.”

Brecel then added: “I’m just happy to be here as a world champion and I am really looking forward to it.”
