When choosing the ideal holiday location there are multiple factors at play. Weather, activities, accommodation, cost and travel time all factor in. For some, how touristy and generally busy a place is can also influence their decision.

While there is a reason certain places are more popular than others, there are thousands of destinations that remain undiscovered gems to outsiders. Santa Maria di Castellabate in the south of Italy is one such gem. The seaside town is a favourite holiday spot of local families.

Located in the province of Salerno, Campania and just a two hour train ride from Naples, it is popular among Neapolitans.
