You can beat Ryanair hand luggage fees with ‘trending’ £14 bag | Travel News | Travel
Ryanair might be known for their budget-friendly flights, with journeys for as little as £29.99. But one thing it isn’t hailed for is its luggage allowance. In fact, passengers typically have to shell out if they hope to take more than one small personal item.
However, travellers are increasingly discovering more ways to get around this by finding bags that fit the dimensions of a small personal item perfectly, while still having enough room to pack all of the essentials for a small trip. Irish travel influencer Ali says she has found a bag that can fit enough belongings for a four-night trip – with room left over. And to top it off, the purse-friendly bag passes all of Ryanair’s requirements.
In a video posted to her TikTok page @mypassporttohappy, Ali explained: “This is the bag that is currently trending on TikTok. So it’s an Amazon bag and it fits perfectly on all flights, so you can use it as a carry-on so that you don’t have to buy extra luggage.”
The bag in question is from the brand Aerolite and is the 40 x 20 x 25cm cabin bag. The bag does come in a larger size, but only these specific dimensions will pass the Ryanair checks. According to Aerolite: “We specifically designed our Aerolite holdall to measure 40 x 20 x 25cm; which is exactly the maximum allowed size you can take for free in the cabin when flying with Ryanair.
“It is also accepted on virtually all major airlines worldwide; Including easyJet, British Airways, Etihad, Emirates, Delta, Flybe, Lufthansa, Norwegian, Jet2, KLM, Qatar, Wizz Air and Virgin Atlantic to name just a few!”
To top it off, the hand luggage item won’t break the bank, at just £13.99 at the time of writing.
Ali demonstrated to her followers just how much she could fit into her luggage for four days, including multiple outfits, gym wear and all of her toiletry essentials.
“This is everything I fit in for four nights in Morocco,” she said.
“I fit one pair of denim shorts, one long skirt, three long dresses, four tops, a pair of pyjamas, a short sarong to use on the beach, a long sarong to use as a cover up and a towel. Gym workout gear, one bikini, underwear, socks and bras for four days, a medicine bag, hair curlers, sandals, a USB port, a hair brush, toiletries and make-up bag, a power bank to charge my phone, my passport, snacks for the plane, another bra, AirPods and my sunglasses at the end.”
Despite the bag appearing small at first, Ali was surprised by how much she could fit into the bag.
Ali added: “To be honest I definitely could have fit even more and I did on the way home with extra souvenirs. I highly recommend this bag, it fits perfectly underneath the seats and it passed all of the Ryanair checks.”

Passengers who wish to take a second, larger piece of luggage must purchase a Priority fare.
Priority fares allow customers to take a small personal bag (40 x 20 x 25cm) and a cabin bag (55 x 40 x 20cm) weighing up to 10kg with them onboard
- Priority fare passengers also board the plane first via the Priority Queue
- Priority plus two extra bags costs between £6 and £36 when done online, compared to at the check-in desk where it can cost anywhere from £20 to £38
It is always more cost-effective to book any extra luggage online ahead of your departure, as costs can increase significantly at the check-in desk.
