Elvis UK exhibition extends with more Graceland treasures and VIP curator talks | Music | Entertainment
Last year, Graceland brought a treasure trove of Elvis Presley’s possessions across the pond for a special UK exhibition.
Direct From Graceland: Elvis features jumpsuits, clothing, vehicles and personal possessions owned by The King, with many having never left Memphis, Tennessee until now.
The initial 10-week run at Arches London Bridge has been extended through to September 1 and the estate is bringing over even more artefacts.
Among them will be Elvis’ Gibson J200 leather guitar cover which was visible on stage during his rise to fame in the 1950s.
Additionally, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of his 1974 Grammy win, his Grammy award plaque for his live recording of How Great Thou Art will be showcased too.
Meanwhile, the red vest Elvis wore during the filming of his 1968 Comeback Special, plus his dazzling diamond and ruby ring worn on stage for his Elvis On Tour documentary film, will also be on display.
If that wasn’t enough, joining his gold Las Vegas mic and the belt he wore to meet Nixon in the exhibition’s White Glove Experience (where you actually get to hold the items) are Elvis’ iconic TCB aviator sunglasses.
On top of the new treasure, Angie Marchese, Graceland’s Vice President of Archives & Exhibits, will give four talks at VIP Curator Events over the next couple of weeks.
The announcement shared: “Fans can experience the ultimate insider’s view as Angie Marchese shares captivating stories and insights regarding the life and legacy of Elvis Presley and his personal relationship to a handful of selected treasures arriving Direct from the Graceland Archives. Angie will be discussing and sharing some iconic and exclusive artefacts during these once in a lifetime events that are not to be missed.”
