Princess Kate’s hair through the years – from colour changes to curtain bangs | Royal | News

When it comes to Princess Kate one of her crowning glories has always been her beautiful hair. Her trademark tresses have often quite literally been the ‘mane’ event when she’s stepped out on royal duties, graced a red carpet or even gotten in amongst the sporting action.

But her style hasen’t ever changed drastically – instead she’s stuck to her roots and showcased subtle tweaks to move with the times. Award-winning hairdresser and founder of Perfect Silhouette Hairdressing Robyn Wood spoke to Express.co.uk exclusively to pour through Kate’s eight most iconic looks.

She said: “During her time in the public eye, Kate Middleton has cemented herself as one of the most recognised hair icons! People have used her looks as a point of reference and inspiration for the latest hair trends and how to wear them well. Having been a hairdresser for nearly 20 years, and now a bridal specialist, I have been asked on so many occasions for ‘Kate Middleton’ hair.

“She has perfected her signature look so well that I know exactly what a client means when they say this. A great example of this is her wedding day hair which is still copied to this day. Her style has changed over the years as trends change she has always adapted it to suit her and looks elegant and effortless. It’s easy to see why she is a hair icon!”

And despite speculation, Kate is not thought to have ever worn hair extensions. Here Express.co.uk takes a closer look at the Princess of Wales’s hair transformation over the years.

Newlywed Princess Kate

It was the moment that sparked bridal-do envy around the world – with Kate’s wedding day style going down in hair history.

Robyn said: “Kate’s wedding hair was the perfect example of choosing a style for your big day that still feels like you and is the best version of yourself.

“Her, by this time, iconic curls, teamed with a soft half-up style that never goes out and incorporating that side parting was perfect for her.

“A style fit for a Princess. To copy her bridal style ask for a bouncy blow-dry curl with a simple twist half up.”
