As the draws ever closer, caravan-loving Britons are gearing up for their spring and summer holidays. With thousands of and parks across the UK, it can be hard to decide which one to pick, but to help holidaymakers make their decision experts from Go Outdoors have created their ranking of the “best caravan parks in the UK”.

The team considered factors including on-site amenities and whether they are dog-friendly, plus the all-important cost of a stay.

And it turns out, if you’re looking to enjoy a top-rated stay, you don’t necessarily need to shell out hundreds of pounds. According to Go Outdoors, their number one “best caravan park” is Auchenlarie Holiday Park in Scotland, where you can enjoy a weekend stay for approximately £75 – even in the summer.

To take things one step further, Express.co.uk independently searched the price of a stay at the caravan park for two nights over a weekend in June and found that you can currently book for just £60. The Friday and Saturday night stay equates to just £30 per person for two people pitching up in a caravan.

Of course, prices vary depending on the type of accommodation you are looking for – with the site also home to camping pitches, en-suite clamping pods and lodges.

Campers and tourers can choose between grass and hardstanding pitches, all serviced with 16-amp electric hook-ups and space for an awning.

For a little luxury, guests can clamp in furnished “S-Pods” for up to two guests, complete with en-suite facilities.

There are also a variety of bronze, silver and gold static caravans and lodges sleeping between four and six people, including dog-friendly options and even some with bubbling hot tubs.

Auchenlarie Holiday Park is deemed a “five-star family park” by Campsites.co.uk, with stunning views across Wigtown Bay and access to a beach and private cove. On Tripadvisor, the holiday park has been awarded four stars overall from previous visitors.

Surrounded by a vast stretch of countryside, there is plenty of space for long walks and bike rides with the whole family. However, there is plenty to keep you busy within the confines of the holiday park. During the high season, you can expect children’s entertainment daily, plus fun for the whole family in the on-site Starlight Suite, including quizzes, karaoke and more.

Facilities also include a toilet and shower block with a dishwashing facility, plus a heated indoor swimming pool, convenience shop, restaurant and takeaway, gym and play areas for kids.

Go Outdoors stated: “Auchenlarie Holiday Park is situated on the picturesque Dumfries and Galloway coast and is a popular destination for a caravan holiday. The site has an average user review rating of 4.57 stars out of five, with visitors citing the idyllic views of Wigtown Bay and affordable food at the on-site shop. The site is also pet-friendly, so caravaners can bring their furry friend along for the holiday.”
