Best solo beach holiday destination has 10 times more coast than UK | Travel News | Travel

The budget airline company Wizz Air has shared the best locations around the world for solo tourists to take a beach holiday.

In recent months, solo tourism has increased in popularity since it is often cheaper than holidays with friends and family and can be more relaxing, letting visitors see what they want at a pace that suits them.

Tamara Vallois, Head of Communications at Wizz Air, noted that tourists travelling on their own to visit some beautiful beaches shouldn’t only focus on destinations with hot climates.

She explained: “The list combines the expected sunny showstoppers such as Italy, Spain and Greece (all in the top 10), with some countries well-known.

“Albania, Poland, Lithuania and the Netherlands all feature in our top 20, and have some real hidden gems along the coast for travellers to discover.”

Using factors such as crime rates, the coastline and the number of other single people in the area, Wizz Air found that Finland was the best destination for a solo beach holiday.

Whilst the Scandinavian nation is best known for its harsh winter weather, temperatures typically average 21 degrees during the summer, with some days reaching 35 degrees.

The company ranked the country as the best for beaches due to its incredible coastline of nearly 200,000 miles and particularly low crime rate.

Whilst unlikely countries, including Norway, Denmark and even the UK, ranked high on the list, the most popular beach holiday destination with a famously high climate was Greece.

With warm temperatures noted throughout the year, there are typically just 65.2cm of precipitation per year, meaning tourists can avoid rainy days from ruining their holiday.

Despite crime being relatively high, the company highlighted that 54.3 percent of the population were noted to be single and it was popular with social media users.
