Bruce Springsteen biopic star announced: ‘The Boss is thrilled with this movie’ | Films | Entertainment

Rock star biopics have been all the rage over the last few years from Elvis and Rocketman to Bohemian Rhapsody and Back to Black.

The latest to be announced is Deliver Me From Nowhere, focusing in on Bruce Springsteen’s writing and recording of his iconic 1982 album Nebraska.

Based on the 2023 book of the same name by Warren Zane, the film is being produced by Disney’s 20th Century Studios and the Boss himself is involved in the project.

Springsteen’s manager Jon Landau said: “Warren Zanes’ Deliver Me From Nowhere is one of the best books ever written about Bruce Springsteen and his music.

“Bruce and I are thrilled that Scott Cooper has chosen to write and direct the film based on that book — we think he’s the perfect filmmaker for the job.”

Landau added: “Scott, with producers Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Eric Robinson at The Gotham Group, and Scott Stuber are bringing together a superb team to ensure that this project has the vision and soul that have been the hallmark of Bruce’s 55-year career.

“We’re thrilled to have the wholehearted commitment and support of the entire team at 20th and Disney.”

And now the rising star who has been cast as the Boss himself has been announced.

According to Deadline, The Bear star Jeremy Allen White will play Bruce Springsteen in the upcoming movie.

This should come as little surprise given that the 33-year-old has been in talks and has a striking resemblance to the Boss, who was the actor’s age in 1982.

Deliver Me From Nowhere’s release date is TBC.
