Last year, the world No. 50 reached the semi-final, losing to eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz. A few months later, he won the biggest title of his career at the ATP 500 in Washington and reached a career-high of No. 21 in the world.
He pushed Alcaraz to four sets in a thrilling US Open match but his season ended in Vienna when he picked up a calf injury during his first-round match against Frances Tiafoe, with the issue ruling him out of the Davis Cup.
So far in 2024, he has racked up a 3-9 record with his only wins coming in Adelaide, Los Cabos and Miami.
