Days after signing Fernando Alonso to a multi-year contract, Aston Martin has committed its future to Formula One until 2030.
“Formula One has helped transform the nature of the business and give us the performance credentials and credibility by putting it into our road cars,” owner Lawrence Stroll explained to The Times.
“Not only has Formula One given us the 2.3 billion viewers that see a beautiful British racing green Aston Martin 24 weekends this season – it’s also brought us a much younger customer to Aston Martin.”
It was considered a surprise when Alonso signed a contract extension to remain with Aston.
The Spaniard had been strongly linked with Mercedes and Red Bull.
