F1 LIVE: Wolff takes aim at Mercedes man Russell as Verstappen vents sprint race fury | F1 | Sport

It was a great weekend for Red Bull at the Japanese Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen returning to the top of the podium ahead of teammate Sergio Perez. But speculation remains over the futures of both drivers and Christian Horner, with the fallout from the ongoing case against the Team Principal causing tension.

Lewis Hamilton’s final year at Mercedes is proving anything but a successful swanswong, and the seven-time world champion was again frustrated in Suzuka as he laboured to ninth. George Russell was only two places ahead of him, and has now been publicly challenged by Toto Wolff.

The driver market is also prompting frenzied interest, with the likes of Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz linked with a series of teams for 2025. Nex up, it’s the Chinese Grand Prix on the weekend of April 19-21, which will see the return of the controversial sprint race format.
