The cabinet reportedly discussed multiple diplomatic and military options. The official said: “Any response will be coordinated with the Americans.” Channel 12 News reported Israel wants to attack Iran without instigating a full-scale war.
Despite these comments by the official claiming to want coordinated attacks with the US, Joe Biden previously told Benjamin Netanyahu that his country would not participate in any counteroffensive against Iran.
Secretary of State Blinken said the US had been “coordinating a diplomatic response to seek to prevent escalation”. He added: “I’ve been in close communication with counterparts in the region and we will continue to do so in the hours and days ahead.”
He continued: “We don’t seek escalation, but will continue to support the defence of Israel and to protect our personnel in the region.”

Also earlier today, Sayed Muhammed Marandi, professor at the University of Tehran and son of a physician who served in Iran’s government, said his country’s attack over the weekend was successful.
He told Times Radio: “Iran knew those drones were going to be downed anyway, but they were decoys to make Israel and its allies in genocide use up all of their new technology and to expose their capabilities.
“If Iran wants to carry out a major strike on the Israeli regime, the attack would be ten-fold. Iran has large numbers of underground missile bases. They have been preparing themselves … The Iranians are effectively preparing themselves for the next stage.”
