Pretty and cheap seaside town with Europe’s longest beach | Travel News | Travel
Looking to holiday on a budget this year? A pretty seaside town on France’s northern coast could be the ideal destination.
The travel expert team at KAYAK have rounded up some of Europe’s best affordable destinations for travellers on a budget.
If you don’t want to pay for a flight this summer, why not consider driving to France on the Eurotunnel?
Le Touquet is easily reached from the UK and a meal at an inexpensive restaurant can cost as little as £10.
A KAYAK spokesperson said: “If you book the Eurotunnel in advance and don’t mind travelling early morning or later in the evening you can pick up a great deal.
“You can grab accommodation fairly cheaply in this seaside town which is often referred to as Le Touquet Paris-Plage.”
The town earned its nickname as it’s a common weekend destination for Parisiennes looking to escape the capital.
Incredibly, Le Touquet is also home to Europe’s largest beach with a whopping 7km of white sand.
The spokesperson added: “There is a great equestrian and tennis scene if that’s of interest to you, plus kids will love the play parks on the beach.”
Le Touquet is also around three hours from Paris, so it’s possible to explore the capital on a day trip.
A tourist ‘geoffd420’ wrote: “If you want a great holiday in a genuine French tourist resort then Le Touquet is the place to go.
“Amazing restaurants, great shops, genuine French culture, friendly locals, great food, great coffee and great location.”
Le Touquet is one of France’s best destinations to enjoy seafood with moule-frites, a must-try dish.
Visit the covered market to pick up freshly caught local fish or try some of the regional speciality waffles.
