The pretty and underrated seaside town with the UK’s cheapest parking | Travel News | Travel

Is there anything better than a day at the British seaside? Unfortunately, Britons could end up spending a lot for the privilege.

A study from the experts at Motorscan has found the British seaside towns with the cheapest and most expensive parking.

In Brighton, one of the UK’s most popular seaside towns, parking costs a whopping £24.21 for eight hours.

Newquay is also incredibly pricey with eight hours parking costing over £12 on average while it was a similar story in Falmouth.

But which seaside towns have the cheapest parking?

Hornsea in East Yorkshire is the cheapest seaside town for parking in the UK. The pretty spot charges customers just £1.98 for eight hours parking on average.

A tourist ‘Emily B’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “A nice, quiet seaside town. A beautiful clean beach with lovely views of the sea from the promenade.”

Fife was the second cheapest spot for seaside parking with eight hours costing just £2.27 on average.

Portrush, a pretty seaside town in Northern Ireland, was the third cheapest spot with parking for just £3.47 for eight hours.

Oliver Thompson, head of vehicle intelligence at Motorscan, said: “Brighton’s staggering average parking fee of £24.21 tops the charts, highlighting the financial strain families may face when planning beach outings.

“On the contrary, Hornsea emerges as a beacon of affordability, offering seaside parking at just £1.98 on average.”
